The Crocodile Cafe on Lake Street doesn't offer happy hour and the 'bar' can only accommodate about 10. While I do go there to meet friends sometimes, I also love going there by myself. The bar is only ever packed Thursday - Saturday, and it's typically spotty then.

Nonetheless, some other bar-stragglers always show up. Somehow the place seems to inspire a good conversation. Perhaps, its the bartender, Dave.

Aside from facilitating conversation, Dave mixes pretty good drinks. When I'm not drinking beer, I'll take a margarita on the rocks. Typically, however, I drink the Craftsman IPA which is locally brewed in Pasadena.

I once met the mother of the Craftsmen brewer at the Crocodile as I was downing one of her son's beers - she still owes me a Craftsman t-shirt. Anyway, she told me her son was a JPL photographer. One day his wife, I think it was, bought him a beer making kit. Well the rest is history.

Eventually, the bathtub brewer quit his job and moved to the garage. So buy one of his beers, dammit!

The grub at the Crocodile is great, especially for munchies. They have a limited pizza selection, but it rivals KPC in taste. Salads are great there, and I love the tacquitos.

Say hi to Dave for me.
