Is Aztlan coming soon to Southern California?
Is the real motive behind illegal immigration, Aztlan? Is Mexico, ultimately, trying to reconquer the SouthWest?
And I do mean reconquer. Let's not forget, there were many indigenous peoples - not just Aztecs, not just Mexicans, which also lived in the Southwest before it was part of the Mexican Empire.
Still, is there really - aside from some radicals - a movement to reclaim the Southwest?
According to a new book by ultraconservative, Patrick Buchanan, State of Emergency, claims "a conscious campaign to use America as a dumping ground for its poor and unemployed, both to relieve social pressure and effect a cultural re-annexation of the American Southwest. La Reconquista, the reconquest of the lands lost by Mexico in the Mexican-American War, Buchanan charges, is underway." (more)
What do you think, conservative propaganda or the new reality?
