October Surprise and Underground Politics
With October just around the corner, the Presidential election is almost here. Still, Presidential elections only offer average citizens a very limited voice in political affairs. For most citizens, the best way to get involved, is to get involved with your immediate community.
October Surpirse is a local community for Northeast Los Angeles that focuses on "Creative Interventions and Underground Politics". From Oct. 8 -11, October Surprise will be offering events that will "converge artists, activists, and the community to celebrate our neighborhoods and strengthen creative, grassroots power, using site-specific installations, interventions, art, monuments, performance, and othe events."
These projects and events are focused on Northeast LA, particularly the areas of Highland Park, Mount Washington, Montecito Heights, Glassel Park, and Eagle Rock. If you live in one of these areas and are interested in more information, call 323-449-9019.
