Today, an L.A. Times article by Jessica Garrison poked a little fun at the L.A. Council. In No Issue Too Small for L.A. Council, Garrision covers the ban on silly string in Hollywood as well as new stripper rules, dumping trash, and having broken windows on your home, to name a few new Council causes.

Ford, Hybrid Cars, and California Pollution Legislation
As I scanned the news this morning, searching for any updates regarding the California smog legislation, I noticed an advertisement that has caught my eye the last several days on latimes.com. A huge ad on the right hand side of the page (to see) markets the Ford Escape Hybrid Car. The tagline under the logo states "Makers of Earth's First Full Hybrid SUV".

Villaraigosa On 2001 Pace for L.A. Mayor
Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa hit $200,000 in campaign fundraising last week. While it took the councilman a month and a half to raise the amount - since announcing his second run at mayor more than a month and a half ago - he is on the same pace as 2001. That year Villaraigosa lost to Mayor James H. Hahn in a runoff.

Downtown Los Angeles to Downtown San Francisco in less than 2 1/2 hours?
In November 2006, a public vote on bond financing for a 700-mile high-speed train network will come before the people of California. If approved by the voters, construction on such a train could begin in 2008. Going 220 mph, the train will take passengers from San Francisco to LA in less than an amazing 2 and 1/2 hours. (more)
